My family had the best weekend ever!!! It was Lily's 5th Birthday weekend, with her actual birthday being on Sunday the 29th.
Saturday we took Lily to get her ears pierced! She was such a trooper - she didn't cry and she said it didn't hurt! What a big girl she is! Here she is pointing to the evidence!
First, we followed a guy and a girl on a motorcycle into the parking lot. We had to wait behind them while they paid for parking, and while we did I commented on how I liked her hair and how cute their coordinating bandanas were. Basicly, we really looked at them. After we got inside, for the first time ever we noticed a sign that said that the front row seats are reserved for season ticket holders. Since we're season ticket holders, we sat down with Paul now covering up the sign. A minute later, the couple from the motorcycle happened to sit down right next to me. Somehow we got to chatting, and it turned out they were not season ticket holders, but I'm sure they didn't see the sign with Paul sitting in front of it. I happened to mention that my daughter was having her 5th birthday party the next day, and that it was going to be a pirate theme. The guy said that he was just at a pirate party for a 4 year old that morning, and that there was the best impersonator there of Captain Jack Sparrow (from
Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean movie series.) I said I had been looking for someone who did that for months but couldn't find anybody. He gave me the guy's card that he still had on him from the party. I joked that I wondered if he'd be free tomorrow and the motorcycle guy said he'd call him for me and find out! He couldn't reach him so he also sent him a text message on my behalf. So while we waited to see if he'd call back and watched the roller derby, I couldn't get over how familiar this guy's voice sounded, so I said, "I don't suppose you're on the radio, are you?" He said, "Yes, I'm Johnny from The Rock." I hardly ever listen to the radio, but even I know about
the famous Johnny Dare from 98.9 The Rock in Kansas City. I couldn't believe I recognized his voice as someone who hears him maybe once a year. So I'm kind of flipping out by now because I'm sitting next to a local celebrity - and he's handsome by the way. So here he is with Lily.

Oh, and I also - before I knew he was famous - asked him to save our seats so we could go get this picture:

This is my favorite derby girl, Snot Rocket. I always knew she was really talented (seriously, you should see this girl skate), but tonight I also got to see that she's really pretty and nice too! I've been wanting this shot for a while now, so it was cool that we got the chance. She probably thinks I'm a stalker, poor thing.
Anyway, so after we left, we decided to use the restrooms before the long drive back home. When we came out, we saw the girl that Johnny was with (who was gorgeous by the way and I told her so) and she said Johnny was looking for us because the pirate returned his call and he's available for our party! Johnny then walked up all excited about the news. I was so floored by the whole thing! Sorry to ruin his reputation KC, but he's a really nice guy!!!
So we got into our car and called the pirate, whose real name is
Chip Houser. Paul talked to him and set it all up for 2:00 the next afternoon for Lily's party. I was kind of nervous about whether or not it was really going to happen or not, because of course Lily was there for all of the this.
On Sunday, Lily got her presents, including this:

Then came the party! We started out with some jumping on this:

This is all at our house by the way. Fun! And that's my hot hubby in the pirate costume.
Then Captain Jack Sparrow came through for us (I couldn't believe it!) and I was completely star struck. He was tall, dark, and handsome.
Maria - you would have passed out! (She is in love with Johnny Depp.) I am still being made fun of for apparently not being very subtle about my awe. Fortunately my husband is extremely understanding! I wasn't the only happy girl. My friend Shelly said something along the lines of, "Tiffany, we need to have a scrapbooking party with a pirate theme so we can see him again!" OK, without making you wait any longer, here he is:
Did I mention that he acts and sounds JUST like Johnny Depp's character? I can't believe how completely serendipitous it was that he fell into our laps the night before the party!!! It was just meant to be.
Paul set up a really fun treasure hunt with a treasure chest full of loot at the end. We also had Pin the Patch on the Pirate. Lily had 7 of her friends and a couple of their siblings attend, and they all had such a blast!
Here are some more party pics:
TK! :) :) :)
P.S. As it turned out, Johnny didn't tell me the whole story about how he met Chip. Chip told me that he heard Johnny on the radio complaining about how his boss was making him dress up like a pirate for his son's birthday party. Chip emailed Johnny pics of himself and said he'd bail him out. Johnny took him up on it, and had just met Chip the morning he told me about him. Also, Chip said Johnny was going to have him on his show Monday morning (this morning) to tell everyone how awesome he is. I didn't listen to the show (it's on from 6am - 10am), but I'll try to see if they have it on their website later. Anyway, I have the feeling that now Chip is going to be pretty hard to book, so how lucky were we?!? :)
